Head Coach

John Edwards

John has been coaching Kingdom swimmers in Development Squad since 2013. In 2020 he took over the reigns with the Junior A, and is now coaching the Junior A’s. John swam and competed with Kingdom SC as a teenager in the 80's and then later returned to pool swimming in the late 90's with Kingdom Master's.  He has continued his lifelong water pursuits outdoors with surfing, diving, kayaking & open water swimming and is well known locally for his epic open water swims. John is a highly regarded outdoor instructor and open water swim coach. Four of John's children are Kingdom swimmers with Eppie currently swimming with Kingdom in the Junior A. As John says 'Little did I know standing on the pool deck as a young teenager that Kingdom SC would lead me to a life of great adventure. The friends you make swimming are the friends you make for life'.

Coaches

Nigel Collins

Nigel commenced his coaching journey with Kingdom SC four years ago, advancing through the different squads and currently one of the coaches in the Development squad. Always an avid swimmer, Nigel swam competitively with his local club in Cork and has been involved in Irish water safety for a number of years thereafter. He continues to embrace his love for swimming , training frequently and successfully completing a number of marathon swims, notably the Galley Head and Fastnet swims as a solo swimmer. 

Similar to our head Coach John, Nigel also shares a passion for surfing year round!

All of Nigel's children swim with the club -Anna is in Development Squad Jonas in Junior A and Mattias in Senior Squad.

Mike O’Connell & Tim O’Connell

Twins Mike & Tim O’Connell have been involved with Kingdom SC for over 30 years now. Starting out as coaching assistants in the early 90’s, Mike & Tim progressed up the Swim Ireland coaching pathway working with various squads in Kingdom along the way. Two very familiar faces on deck at numerous Munster & National galas over the years, we are fortunate to have their expertise in Kingdom as both are also highly respected Swim Ireland National Referees.
