The Club

Kingdom Swimming Club was the first competitive swimming club in Kerry set up in 1983 providing a focus for competitive swimming to those living in Tralee and the surrounding areas at a time when there was little or no access to swimming at this level in Munster. Our Club is affiliated to Swim Ireland (the national governing body for swimming) and we received the Club Mark status in 2018. The Club is run on a voluntary basis by the Club Management Committee which is elected at the AGM each year.

Season
The swimming season runs from September to July each year with Squad training usually commencing early September and concluding at the end of May. Senior Swimmers who have qualified for Summer Nationals will continue training with a summer training camp in June to prepare them for competition in July.

Competition
We are a competitive Club with Kingdom swimmers competing under the Swim Ireland Competition Pathway guidelines which are reviewed and updated every year. At regional level Kingdom swimmers compete under the rules & guidelines set out by Munster Swimming. Galas in Munster are usually held in Tralee, Askeaton, UL Limerick, Douglas, Mayfield, Nenagh, Mallow, Ennis & Fermoy. New entry swimmers in September/October will usually attend approximately four galas in total throughout the season. As swimmers progress up through the Squads the frequency of galas increases.

Facilities
Kingdom swimmers train at Tralee Sports & Leisure Centre, Oakpark, Tralee which has a modern 25m pool with five lanes. The Centre operates a modern shared style changing facility. Training sessions often run concurrently with public sessions so Kingdom swimmers & public swimmers will often use the changing facilities simultaneously.

Club Structure
Our swimmers are divided into four Squads depending on several criteria eg. age, ability, technique, fitness, training times, gala times, attendance, punctuality, commitment, maturity etc. All newcomers to the Club will begin in the Development Squad and over time and with a lot of training, commitment and dedication may potentially progress up through the Squads. Times and frequency of training varies between Squads. Please go to the Competition section for more information.

Fees
Coaching fees are set annually by the Management Committee. Fees are invoiced to each swimmer/family per term and are payable by the due date on the invoice.
